The following is a non-comprehensive guide to where you could find accommodation during the special Somerset and Dorset gala events in March. The best general points of information are the Tourist Information Centres at Taunton (01823 340740), Watchet (01984 632101), Minehead (01643 702624) and Porlock (01984 863150)..

Please note that the West Somerset Railway is listing these places. We do not recommend or condemn any. It would be sensible to check out on TripAdvisor or similar sites to see what travellers say and to find prices.

A number of the Minehead hotels and bed & breakfasts can be contacted via the website www.stayinminehead.co.uk. Others include the Kildare Lodge and the Britannia Inn, Stones Hotel, Alcombe Hotel, Marston Lodge,  The Old Ship Aground, Gascony Hotel, Quay Inn  and the Parks Guest House

Dunster village is about 20 minutes walk from the station but is quiet. Places there include the Luttrell Arms, the Yarn Market Hotel, Dunster Castle Hotel, Dunster Mill House, Priory Cottage, Spears Cross and Exmoor House.

Blue Anchor is mainly caravan parks in terms of accommodation.

If you are travelling by car Carhampton is the turning off point from the A39 for Blue Anchor and there you will find Townsend Bed and Breakfast and the Butchers Arms.

Along the road between Carhampton and Washford are the Dragon House Hotel and Steps Farmhouse. Also there is Bournstream although this is adjacent to the stables of Phil Hobbs the racehorse trainer and almost always advertises no vacancies..

At Washford the Washford Inn stands right beside the station and the Old Bank House is beside the turning which takes you down past Cleeve Abbey to the White Horse. Monks Cider House and the Langtrey are on the way to Williton. Washford is not the safest village for walking along the main road so if staying at the latter it will be necessary to drive to and from the station.
